Michigan Football Releases 2026 Season Schedule
ROSEMONT, Ill. — The University of Michigan Athletic Department, in collaboration with the Big Ten Conference, has officially announced the Wolverines’ 2026 football schedule. This season marks an exciting beginning with J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach Kyle Whittingham at the helm, where fans can anticipate eight thrilling home games in Ann Arbor.
The Wolverines kick off their 147th season with three non-conference home games: Western Michigan on Sept. 5, Oklahoma on Sept. 12, and UTEP on Sept. 19. Following these matchups, they will dive into the nine-game Big Ten slate.
Key Matchups
Michigan will host Iowa on Sept. 26 for their 120th conference opener as a member of the Big Ten. The Wolverines will then travel to Minneapolis for their first road contest against Minnesota on Oct. 3, entering the historic rivalry game for the Little Brown Jug for the 100th time. Michigan leads the series with a remarkable 74-23-2 record.
After an open week, the Wolverines will return to Michigan Stadium to face Penn State on Oct. 17 and the defending national champion Indiana on Oct. 24. Halloween brings an away game at Rutgers on Oct. 31.
The Rivalry Continues
November features more riveting action as Michigan welcomes Michigan State to the Big House on Nov. 7 for the annual battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy. This year marks the 74th meeting of this longstanding rivalry, with the Wolverines holding a 42-29-2 record.
U-M will then head to Eugene on Nov. 14 for their first match against Oregon as conference rivals at Autzen Stadium. The Wolverines will return home on Nov. 21 to take on UCLA, another exciting addition to the Big Ten lineup.
