After the Jimmy injury the warriors roster before a Giannis trade is also pretty bad lol
Well their roster before a hypothetical Giannis trade is also pretty bad. The post-Curry picks they’ll give up will be valuable but then again Warriors had done jackshit with their lottery picks and young players for the last 6-7 years. So maybe they just say fuck it and give Curry a superstar that can go 30/10/5 nightly.
giannis and steph is an absurd duo that they’re banking hard on. also melton is the GOAT
Yes but I would argue it’s a better playoff roster once the rotations tighten up and experienced superstars can shine. Maybe.
They would be low key ass tbh
Have you seen their current line up? Getting Giannis is their Hail Mary for Steph.
I see them also getting like Portis and/or Trent in the deal which helps a bit.
It seems more like securing the superstar now, seeing how far you can go with the roster this season and then properly building around it for one or two final runs in 27 and 28.
Cream City Green. I love it.
This seems media and Lacob driven tbh, Giannis just got done playing with an aging all star guard in Dame and that ended badly. Banking on another aging core is a huge gamble. He should be doing what Bron did when he went back to cleveland and teamed up with a young kyrie and younger K Love, Minnesota seemed like a random destination a few days ago but seems more plausible imo
First round exit waiting to happen
I’m biased obvi but a Steph, Melton, Moody, Giannis, Horford starting lineup with Will, Buddy & Gui being the main guys off the bench isn’t bad for a team making a mid-season trade of this magnitude.
I assume they’d have vets who’d wanna come and compete in the offseason on top of whenever Jimmy comes back
He shouldn’t go there. This is a media driven narrative to team up two stars for ratings and so awful media personalities have a new topic to discuss. The NBA media is crazy unoriginal and can’t discuss anything mildly entertaining or interesting without sTaRS
We’ve already seen the recipe with butler. One of Giannis and Steph always on the court. The players around giannis will be worse than what was around butler but giannis is levels above Jimmy. And melton is incredible. Defensively that team could be the best in the league with melton/giannis/horford.
Steph melton moody Giannis Horford is actually good as a 5 man unit. Pat Spencer Buddy Wil Richard Gui Post is a questionable bench but you are just hoping the starters can handle majority of the load, and then reassess the roster in the offseason
I mean it becomes the top buy out destination though. It definitely seems like next year would be their best shot at a title together.
They stink regardless
Well, if they keep Jimmy they will plan on using him next year… People are currently acting like his ACL tear is a 100% career ender just because of his age. But so many players have come back from them with the current level of sports medicine. Giannis’s calf strain would make it tough on them this season anyway.
But I would ask, do the Bucks even have the roster space for that many salary match players, and do they even want them? Vs. Butler who expires cleanly next year.
I don’t think most teams realize this isn’t gonna go well. Giannis isn’t a plug and play kind of player. You have to structure your whole offense around him, and another ball dominant player won’t mesh. That’s on top of the depth the team will lose to get him and the requirement for having defensive guards. I could probably count on one hand the rosters that would actually be serious finals contenders with him on it.
Bad right now too so whatever
It’s an objectively awful idea, you’re left with no one you can trust other than Steph and Giannis. They might be able to swing for a better third piece in the offseason but that would deplete their depth even more, really not sure why the warriors would do this
This would be like the Knicks after the Carmelo trade, you got the stars but none of the depth needed to have a deep playoff run and you’re super vulnerable to any injury to your aging stars.
if they’re trading Draymond then it’s more about when Jimmy comes back. but it seems more likely that Jimmy goes, and they’re banking on Steph-Draymond-Giannis somehow working. which… maybe? seems pretty clunky offensively, but at the same time Steph and Giannis on the floor together could just be enough. I’m not sure they’ll have a better avenue towards maximizing the rest of Steph’s career, which might be reason enough to try.
biggest issue might just be that Giannis may not be interested in coming in to Steph’s house for a roster that is kinda similar to the one he already had with Dame.
Get rid of Buddy & Payton and I’m good
Nearly every team after a Giannis trade gets gutted
Steph and Giannis and me is fun to watch and has a chance
Exactly the point I’ve been making. They’re giving up all their picks and gutting their roster so they can lose in the first round to OKC or San Antonio next year? I doubt they’re that stupid.
same shit as lakers basically
melton and horford are probably gone too
the main idea is jimmy would be coming back next year.
I think a starting line up of
Curry
Melton
Moody
Giannis
Horford
Is one of the best in the league.
The bench will struggle but in the playoffs, it goes max 9 deep
Richard
Buddy
Post
Gui
Not ideal, but it’s a top heavy lineup which is ok
Then next year when Jimmy is back, you insert him in and it’s a legit contender no doubt
Legit dumbass move trading Dray. Dray exclusively works only with Steph. Jimmy is an expiring contract, is 55+ million rotting on GSW bench. Legit no reason to trade dray when salary matches perfectly with Butler, plus he can def provide value to Bucks when he comes back. Idk wtf Dunleavy and Lacob are thinking, but if they want all that cap space to go to waste so be it
I’d imagine that’s part of why the warriors would wanna get it done by the deadline so they can lock Giannis down then use the off season to retool
Richard might be a rookie that Kerr can actually develop. He’s solid.
Buddy just needs 1 or 2 hot games in the playoffs.
Pat actually looked like he belonged in the playoffs last year. He’s fine.
I think Melton is the x-factor. He’s been playing great.
